This is a historical place, located a bit far from the beaches and the bays, deeply into the woods. The board explains the Amerindian resistance to Spanish colonization that took place in Arena, Trinidad in 1699. As a person who loves learning more about the past of the countries I visit, I find this place quite interesting. I didn’t have a guide with me, but the board explains quite a lot.
I googled what to visit before I booked my flight and this place was high on the list. It is a strong reminder of the corrupt world we live in. It should be a lesson to all of us to live peaceful lives. So sad to read about all the unnecesary deaths. Visit and learn! :(
When I visited Trinidad and Tobago my father insisted that we visit as many historical sites as possible. The Arena Amerindian was one of those. Natives are proud of this place and it really is worth seeing. There are boards where you can read the history of the Amerindian resistance so you can chose to go by yourself and not hire a guide, although a guide may tell you more than what’s on the board.
