Maracas Bay, located on the north coast of Trinidad, is a tropical paradise that offers visitors an unforgettable experience. This beach is renowned for its off-white sand, palm-fringed coastline, and energetic blue-green waves. A mere 30-minute scenic drive from the capital city, Port-of-Spain, Maracas Bay is a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.
The bay stretches for 2 km, providing ample space for sunbathers who prefer solitude or nature lovers who enjoy the refreshing sea breeze. The waves, averaging a height of 1 meter, make Maracas Bay an ideal spot for body or board surfing. But the allure of Maracas Bay extends beyond its natural beauty. It’s also a gastronomic hotspot known for its local street food, particularly the famous bake and shark.
Bake and Shark is a delicious sandwich made with fried bread filled with seasoned fried shark fillets, vegetables, fruit, and an assortment of condiments ranging from sweet to spicy. The bay is home to a variety of vendors who prepare this tasty offering. The secret, they say, is in the sauce – the tamarind sauce, the pepper sauce, the garlic sauce. These give the edge in deciding the best bake and shark among the huts that sell them.
Maracas Bay is also a hub for various tours and experiences. From city tours of Port of Spain to eco-cultural experiences that combine visits to the city, the beach, and the Caroni Swamp Sunset boat tour, there’s something for everyone.
Visitors to Maracas Bay have praised its beauty, cleanliness, and divine waters. Lifeguards are present, ensuring a safe environment for all beachgoers. The facilities are clean, and the staff is friendly, further enhancing the overall experience at the beach.
Maracas Bay is more than just a beach; it’s a destination that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, exciting activities, and mouth-watering cuisine. Whether you’re a sunbather, a surfer, a foodie, or a nature lover, Maracas Bay has something to offer you. Come and experience the magic of Maracas Bay, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The best beach where you can both have fun and activities or relax as if you are completely alone. I love how well maintained the place is and how many young people enjoyed their vacation here.
A palm-fringed beach 40 minutes away from Port of Spain. It’s full of food stands with delicious goodies. Showers are also available, so as the changing rooms. I liked the fact it wasn’t to crowded. One of my favorite beaches I visited in T&T.
My cousin from Paris paid a visit and refused to go to a crowded beach, so I took her to Maracas Bay. She loved it.
The first beach I visited on the island was this one and I instantly loved it. This is one of the most beautiful places and I’ll gladly go back anytime.
Maracas has an awesome view from above. Currently under some construction. When the waves not beating you up a good lime is always welcome with traditional pelau or KFC.
